IV drip and injections at home
If your doctor has prescribed IV fluids, antibiotics or a course of injections, a trained nurse can give them at home, so the patient doesn’t have to travel to a clinic for every dose.
What the nurse does
- IV drips (fluids and IV medicines) with cannula care
- IM (intramuscular) injections
- SC (subcutaneous) injections, including insulin and blood thinners
- Monitoring the patient during and after the drip
- Following the dose schedule on the prescription
Who it’s for
Patients with a doctor’s prescription for IV therapy or injections who are better treated at home.
