Post-surgical care at home
The first days and weeks after surgery are when careful nursing matters most. A nurse at home can follow the discharge instructions, keep the wound clean, and spot problems early, so you’re not travelling back to hospital for routine care.
What the nurse does
- Wound dressing and suture or staple site care
- Medicines and injections as per the discharge summary
- Catheter care and monitoring
- Checking vitals and watching for signs of infection
- Helping the patient sit up, walk and move safely
- Coordinating with physiotherapy where the doctor has advised it
Who it’s for
Patients recovering at home after orthopaedic, abdominal, cardiac or other surgery, as advised by their surgeon.
